Phoenix Learning and Care works with children and young adults, giving them opportunities for life and living, a real sense of achievement, and a pathway to an independent future.

Phoenix Learning & Care Group operate more than 40 settings across the South & South West of England and South Wales, including residential Children’s homes and adult-supported living settings. They provide education in Schools delivering Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 curriculum for those with special educational needs and further education through its specialist College.

Its aim is simple: to improve an individual’s skills and abilities, help them cope with their life experiences and give them the knowledge and skills to be effective, productive and valued members of society.

Recruitment in the Health & Social Care sector can be extremely challenging; candidates are often scarce while vacancies continue to rise. The Care Industry is also a Regulated Industry that ensures the management of risk and harm for health and social care professions. Phoenix is regulated by Ofsted, CIW, Estyn and CQC and compliance is imperative.

Nurture, Flourish, Grow

Phoenix is a growing company that supports individuals in flourishing. The Recruitment Team wanted an agile approach to attracting and engaging with candidates and managing the recruitment process.

The previous recruitment system at Phoenix didn’t support hiring managers in recruiting effectively. It lacked the functionality to effectively manage candidates through the recruitment process with the desired candidate journey. It didn’t provide a self-service element for candidates to search and apply for vacancies and view and manage applications. Capturing data and reporting on recruitment metrics had limitations that impacted the ability to make fact-based decisions about where to allocate its campaign budget and understand the success of recruitment campaigns.

Making smarter recruitment decisions

Implementing Eploy’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) was a smooth transition that enabled the Phoenix Recruitment Team to work more effectively, work smarter and provide more ownership across the recruitment process to hiring managers. The recruitment platform supports compliance responsibilities to collect everything from new hires throughout the process before they start with a customisable process for digital offer management and onboarding.

Henry Field, Interim Recruitment Project Manager at Phoenix Learning & Care Group, was responsible for implementing a future-proof ATS that would underpin all recruitment activities at Phoenix. “In implementing Eploy, we have immediately impacted how we recruit and the business metrics available to us.

“The less time hiring managers and business leaders spend asking for updates and data, the more time they can spend doing what they do best - supporting the people we care for. Eploy will save our team time that can be better used elsewhere. Everyone is excited by Eploy and can see the instant value that it brings.”

James Marsh, People Director at Phoenix Learning & Care, commented, “Eploy immediately reduced the reliance on different areas of the business to provide data because of the accessible and detailed self-service recruitment analytics available as standard. Eploy is a functionally rich recruitment platform that allows us to communicate and collaborate effectively”.
